The Barefoot Farmer’s Summer Solstice is a community gathering held each June in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. What began in 1976 has continued for fifty years because people kept coming back – to the land, to the music, and to one another.
June 2026 marks its 50th anniversary. The weekend is shaped by participation and shared presence. Music happens across stages and campsites, day and night. It’s a place to show up, settle in, and take part in something that has been carried forward by community for half a century.
Good Times Over the Years
FIRST TIME AT SOLSTICE?
Summer Solstice is a long-running grassroots gathering held on a biodynamic farm in the hills of Tennessee. People come here to camp, swim in the creek, make music, build fires, share meals, and spend time together in nature.
This is not a commercial festival experience. The land is rustic, the camping is primitive, and attendees are expected to come prepared and largely be self-sufficient for the weekend.
If this is your first Solstice, expect a deeply communal and participatory atmosphere. One of the long-standing principles of the farm is:
“If you want music, you have to make it.”
Acoustic instruments and spontaneous jams are encouraged throughout the weekend. Bring an instrument, join a fire circle, meet your neighbors, and settle into the rhythm of the land.
Please respect the land, the creek, the community, and one another.
